When Prayer Stops - The Word With Adeyemi Bello

When Prayer Stops

It’s been a while since I last shared a piece with you. Well, there has been a lot of work lately. Today, I bring you word from the Lord. He has sent me to tell you that you cannot afford to let the fire of prayer go out. Maybe you haven’t considered what happens when prayer stops. If you haven’t, this will be a piece to educate you. So, take time to find out what happens when prayer stops.

First, you need to know that the fire on your altar carries more power by the level of your consistency in prayer. You need to keep praying even when you don’t feel like it. Yes, you read that right! If you read through the scripture, the command to pray always is not based on whether or not you feel like praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and Luke 18:1 are explicit about it. None of them says it is based on your feelings.

I understand how shocking that may be. The truth is that you need to pray always. There are times you don’t feel like praying, that is true and it is understandable. The truth is, God knows this too and there is provision for this. As long as we live in our bodies, praying will be hindered by the flesh. It happened even with the Apostles in Gethsemane. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41).

Why Does The Flesh Resist Prayer

The fact that the flesh resists prayer is not new especially if you have been a Christian for a while. I am sure you would have experienced it before. Here is what I mean- remember when you decide to pray and a few minutes into the prayer, you feel like sleeping. That’s the flesh resisting! Sometimes, your mind may start traveling around issues that have nothing to do with why you are in prayer. It’s all tactics of the flesh to stop you from praying.

The reason why flesh resists prayer is not far-fetched. It is evident in their sources and outcomes. Exercise patient for me to explain. Let’s take the sources first. Prayer is a command from God while flesh originates from the falling nature. There is no way these two will ever agree together. Take a look at Galatians 5:17, it has a better caption for this truth.

Concerning the outcome, the flesh will always resist your prayer because the possible outcomes are in the opposite directions. Both flesh and prayer are tools used by different masters in two opposite directions. While God uses your prayer to gain legal access to do what He desires to do in your life, the devil uses flesh to achieve his purpose too. If you yield to the flesh when you are supposed to be praying, you simply shut God out of your life.

What Happens When Prayer Stops

If you have read through from the beginning, I believe by now you would have an idea of what happens when prayer stops. When prayer stops, many other things in a man’s life begin to go wrong and off. This is because each time you yield to the flesh when you should be praying, you submit to the desires and lordship of the devil. I can assure you that he will use that window judiciously.

Please note that whenever God inspires you to pray or sends a message to you that you need to pray, the devil is not asleep too. The devil already knows God is set to do something in your life or about to break one of his agenda for you. So, he will try to make you the enemy of yourself by setting your flesh against you. I admonish you today not to be your own enemy by yielding to the flesh when you are supposed to be praying.

So, when prayer stops, you give the devil a full hand of fellowship in your life. In the spirit, it is tantamount to willingly accepting the devil to take the wheels and drive you anywhere. If you stop praying, it won’t matter that you are Christian because you have forsaken your mercy and power. Your being a Christian becomes more potent with your prayer. And not just prayer but consistent kingdom prayer.
