Top of the day to you from wherever you are reading this from around the world. First, I will like to appreciate those who make it an obligation to follow this page. I cannot but appreciate everyone who has ever commented on the posts on this page. And those that responded to the challenge of self assessment in the last piece.
I have gotten emails and chats from different people in response to the challenge of the last piece. Base on the responses I have received so far, I perceive that lots of people seems to be satisfied with their current level of achievement in this year. Few are humbled to believe their achievement is just okay. This birth a thought in me.
While thinking about this, I remembered a prayer Deolu Akinyemi prayed for us during a pre-employment training in Ife. It’s a simple prayer but hard to understand. He prayed ”May you never settle.” According to him, when people make some progress in life, they tend to believe they have achieve all that can be achieved. They tend to think there is nothing more to achieve. This is a gateway to life of irrelevance if you ask me.
Few months later, I came across a video in which late Steve Jobs advised college graduates never to settle. He advised that they continue to aspire to bigger dreams. If you think about this, you will see that it’s an evil to make people loose foresight in our days. People who settle are not even bordering about self-assessment. And without self-assessment, you can’t even see skills or resources that are underuse.
As you prepare for the second half of 2019, my question to you is simple. How big is your dream for the second half of 2019? Please don’t be afraid to have a big dream. It seems people don’t create a dream that can stretch them to grow and achieve more. So they create a dream that can easily achieve. Stretch yourself, in stretching yourself, you grow and acquire a wealth of experience. Prepare to do things differently.
To your success!
