Sometimes last year, I had the privilege of receiving the great man of God in my home. Pastor Enoch Durotoye of Wisdom Christian Center. We had a brief chat on the ministry and what it entails. I remember I stated that the phase of ministry is changing. It didn’t really hit me when I stated that until he reiterated it affirmatively as I walked him to his car.
If you have been pastoring for a decade or two, you will agree that lots of things have changed. In the last decade, so much have changed in what people call ministry. For instance, one of the ills in ministry is the title syndrome. People wants to be called Prophets, Apostles, Bishops etc even if they are not called into such office operationally. And lots of non Biblical offices.
These changes also came with some changes in church administration. Somehow we have find a seat for human wisdom right in front of the altar. All programs and activities are determined by some permutations and calculations. We have employed the sensual wisdom we get through books written by unbelievers to govern the church. Finally, we are relying on our acquired professional knowledge to make decisions for the church.
Truth be told, Pastors are getting results. They are having large crowds and getting financial achievement. My question is simple; are their results what God actually wants? God told Moses to build to full specification as he was shown. This is to achieve the exact blueprint God revealed to him. If you are not getting God’s desired results, you will be getting a result you may need to trace back to its sponsor.
There is no true pastoral success with total submission to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It is not part submission but total. If you do not intend to push Jesus out of the church, you must be totally submissive to Him. He already said He will build His church. Please allow Him. If you allow your educational qualifications, exposure etc to govern the church, you have missed God. If you intend to achieve results God will accept, you must be totally submissive to Him.
