Thank you for following on the subject of discussion. We have already discussed the unbiblical teaching on God’s mercy. We have established that there are ways to obtain God’s mercy. We started by discussing how you can obtain it via prayer by approaching the throne of grace. Please go here to read more.
In this piece we shall continue with how you can obtain the mercy of God through another way as revealed by the Bible. Here we shall consider how our actions will determine whether or not we will receive God’s mercy. This is why we need to be deliberate in our daily living as a child of God. I am trusting God to speak to you through this piece.
This is the first truth I discovered about mercy in my study. You need to show mercy unto others to be a candidate of mercy. Turn your Bible to James 2:13 to read this truth. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. What this verse teaches is simple. If you deal with people as if they are less than you are, without regard and human feelings. That is man’s inhumanity to other men will be judged by God. It has the capacity to withdraw God’s mercy from you. It is worth thinking about. Please meditate so as to retrace your steps
Jesus Taught The Same Truth
In the book of Matthew 18, if you read through from verse 23 to 35. Jesus used the story of two servants to explain how the kingdom of God is. You will notice that one owes a large sum of money and he was freed after begging. The freed man now saw someone who owns him a little amount of money and cast him into prison for failing to pay. He didn’t listen to his plea. This was reported to his boss who freed him for his own debt. This infuriated his boss because he could not forgive his fellow servant that own him a little. Notice the word fellow servant. This means they were on the same level and he knew his challenge. He probably understood while he was unable to pay but decided to ignore that. The fact that he received such a huge grace from his master should even make him have mercy on the fellow servant. So, his boss cast him into prison to pay all he was owing. He lost the mercy he had earlier received because he didn’t show mercy. This is a great similitude between mercy and forgiveness.
Conclusively, you must learn to show mercy because you don’t know where it will qualify you for mercy. It then reveal that you are helping yourself ahead of dangerous times by showing mercy to others. Make it a lifestyle to show mercy whenever you can. May God help us all.
