In the book of Ecclesiastes 1:9, the Bible makes it clear that there is nothing new under the sun. All that we may give as excuse today making us fall short of expectations of the Bible has been in the past. If Christians at those point in time made it, we have no excuse. we have to come to the point where it is clear on our minds that God is counting on us as Christians. Yes, each and everyone of us.
For instance, Elijah stood against the national idolatory of his time. In 1 King 18. It is the same way nudity, rituals, inordinate affections, lies, injustice etc has become the order of the day in this current time. These evils have become the new normal. They are no longer in the hidden, they are practiced openly and everywhere. Even in the church, these unbiblical ways are done without remorse.
The Choice Is Yours
Truth be told, everyone has a choice to make. You may either join them or stand out. But I beg of you to stand out. Please be a Christian, that is why I wrote a book titled “Just be a Christian”. You can get a free copy here. I write not as a perfect man who is whole in all these things but as a watchman doing his bit for the kingdom. So that we all can become like Christ in depth and fullness. That is why some of us are called (Ephesians 4:11-13).
Elijah made a choice to stand for God inspite of the national acceptance of idolatory. He didn’t join the rest of the world to neglect God. Think about how difficult it was for one man to stand against a nation. It wasn’t as easy as you read it on the pages. Elijah wasn’t a special breed, he was like you and I with blood running through his veins (James 5:17a). If he could stand for God, we can.
How about Joseph that was offered sex with the wife of his master (Genesis 39:7-13). He could have done it and said to himself that there was no option for him. He could have supported that claim with pride of sleeping with one of the most powerful and exoctic lady in town. Even in that tight situation, he stood for God and he did not allow short time pleasure to cut him off from God. In his words, he recognized he would sin to God if he had done it (Genesis 39:9). Now its time for you to make your choice.
The Life We Are To Live As Christians
What the world has turn into is not new. There has been and there will always be a fight between the way of God and that of the world. The question is whether or not you will be a Christian always. The way of the world is forever marked the way of the devil because he controls it and he has a short time to lose it all. Would you choose and follow the path of the master?
Remember that we are living an exchanged life. Our life was exchanged for Jesus own in order for us to regain access to God. This mean that we have been sentenced to live the life that Jesus would have lived if He was physically on earth and in that situation. That means everywhere we stand, Jesus is standing. If Jesus is standing, why are you not doing what Jesus would have done.
The question is; what would Jesus do? Jesus would do the will of the father in all situations. How did I know? In John 4:34, He told His disciples his meat is to do the will of the father. The word “meat” is the same with food in today’s English. Food is needed for preservation, growth, and strength. That is all it means to Jesus to do what God wants. Is it the same for you? If not, then you are not living His life that you picked up at Calvary.
Even at age 12, Jesus told his earthly parent he must be involved in his heavenly father business (Luke 9:59). That means it is His first priority. In John 5:17, Jesus explained that he works as He sees the father works. This means that God is the commanding officer and He can only go in a direction because God is going in that direction.
Even Jesus our master flogged people out of the temple because they had turn it into market (John 2:15-17). He didn’t go with the crowd because they were doing it. At that point in time, that was what God’s will mean for Jesus in that situation. God is seeking men that will stand and go His way even if the world says it is senseless, outdated, etc.
Giving Your Life To Jesus As A Christian
Wait a minute, did you really gave your life to Jesus Christ? It is possible that you are called a Christian and you are not one. If you are not genuinely born again then you are not a Christian. No one can tell if you are born again except you. Have you really surrendered all to Jesus? If you must move forward from here. Confess your sins to Jesus, ask for forgiveness and acknowledge Him as your personal Lord and Savior.
Maybe you gave your life to Christ at a point and you took it back, here is the time to rededicate all to Jesus. You are part of the reasons the world is short of Christians. Arise now and rededicate all to Him. Begin to stand for him everywhere whether in your closet or in the open. The world needs Christians to show them Jesus. God is counting on us all.
