It was first with Adam and Eve, Satan came through serpent and promised
that life will be good and okay if they disobey God’s order. They did
obeyed him not understanding his goal was to take away the glory and
dominion mandate from man. God gave man the dominion mandate (Gen. 1:28) and crowned him with glory and honour (Psalm 8:4-5). Man lost all of these to Satan. If only Adam and Eve knew what they were losing as they were about eat that fruit, they won’t. It was neither about the moment nor was it about the feeling of not dieing. For Satan, it was about robbing man of his legitimate life and dominion.
Esau for the hunger of the moment sold his birthright (Gen. 25:32), He
thought it was about the moment. He didn’t know it was about his future. So
he satisfied his hunger with the food but lost his future in the process.
The hunger of the moment should not make you lose sight of the glorious
future ahead of you. Satan knows that future is not only great but it also
carries a weight of glory. Don’t throw all that away because of instant
gratification. For Esau, by the time he realized that it wasn’t about the
moment, it was too late. He sort it with tears (Heb. 12:16-17). Don’t go
the way of Esau, it is too risky.
Joseph knew it wasn’t about enjoying his master’s wife (Gen. 39:7-8), He
knew it was about his destiny. So when Satan came with his bait of
enjoyment as usual, He was able to see beyond the moment and pleasure. He flee immediately. He made the best decision by running away (Gen. 39:12) what some would consider stupidity. If he took Satan’s bait, that would have shut his destiny and his childhood dream would have been shot out of reality. That means the deliverance of the nations would been shot down. If Joseph could make the right choice, anyone of us can. Don’t ever think the pleasure will go with the moment, it is always an exchange for the glorious future ahead.
Have you thought of Daniel? He had the opportunity to eat King’s portion
but he refused it. He knew that the king’s will make him lose sight of God.
He didn’t consider that as a way to get nourished at the moment. Daniel would have missed the spirit of excellence if he had spoilt himself with king’s portion. He would never have done any exploit in Babylon. You will need to reject somethings to secure your future. Don’t eat your future. Don’t eat away the great man or woman in you before the time of manifestation. Now is the time to think and act.
Today, Satan’s tactics has not changed. He will magnify the enjoyment for
the moment and make it seem like it doesn’t count much more than the
moment. In actual fact, a transaction is going on. Only a spiritual man
understand the intricacies of the transaction. Don’t transact your future
because of the function and the moment. Satan is fighting you becoming
everything that God has for you. Don’t sacrifice your future because of
instant gratification for the moment. Don’t be ignorant of the this
tactics. Instant gratification is an enemy and Satan is a greater enemy of
So every time you want to fast, and you are reminded of hunger and losing
weight, remember it’s not about the present, Satan is fighting your future.
When you want to pray, and you are discouraged or no strength to pray, note that Satan is afraid of the power in your prayer and the exploit it can do. It is not about the moment or pleasure, it is about the coded spiritual
warfare to make you lose your place in the glorious future God has for you.
Guard the moment and save your future. You can choose to suffer now so that you can secure your future. That is the choice you will have to make a
million times to end well.
