We all know who Solomon was and is. Of course, he became king of God’s people after his father David. Right now, he is the wisest king that ever lived. God already said no one will match up to that record. He received a blessing no other person can attain. That’s what I called a super customized and unequal grace.
The question is how did he attain such level of grace. Those are the questions we need to be asking if we intend to ride on wings of grace in this earthly journey. When we know what such men did to attain such favour with God, we simply apply irrespective of the cost and we can have the same result. It is rather unfortunate that our study of the Bible these days is short sighted if we ever study it all.
Solomon Was Dutiful
I have been thinking about how Solomon was able to achieve greatness. Not just a mere greatness, it was real one. Till today it is been respected throughout the earth. I found out that this man couldn’t have made the request he made when God ask for what he could do for him if he was not consumed in the duty placed on him. To him, what is important is the success of the duty placed in his care.
Today, that duty is what we call purpose. How many people are even aware of their purpose? For those that are aware of their purpose, how many people are consumed by the thoughts of the success of the purpose? We all are concerned with our personal success. Thats the wrong focus. If we are focus on our purpose succeeding, we will automatically succeed. Thats what happened in the case Solomon.
He Was Duty Concerned
If you look at the king carefully, you will notice that he was actually duty concerned. He was concerned about the duty fulfilling its rightful course. He wasn’t just thinking about himself. Lots of times, we are concerned about ourselves. How we will ride the best car, famous etc while doing the duty. For king Solomon, that wasn’t his focus. If we focus on the success of our purpose on earth, we will eventually become great. Redirect your focus and be successful.
Tools To Succeed
In the bid to make his purpose succeed, he asked for a tool that will guarantee success at his duty. God, seeing that he didn’t place himself first like asking to kill enemies, getting wealth etc like we do today, God gave him everything (1 king 3:12). Do you even know the tools needed to fulfill your purpose? Some have never asked for this other than just for wealth, power, fame etc. If that’s all you are asking, you are likely to miss it. You need tools!
King Solomon Cared For His People
If are to open king Solomon’s heart at the time he was making request for wisdom, you will see a heart of love for his people. He wanted to judge rightly so that people will not be wrongly punished. He wanted a true society and that can only come from the leadership. True leadership will eventually breed love among the followers. This is because they will have a value to protect and that in love.
While there are several lessons that can be learnt from this singular act of asking for wisdom, it imperative that we not only read this but try to incorporate it in our life. Please endeavour to share with loved ones as well if you are blessed with this piece. You may leave comment below, lets hear from you. Thank you for your time.
